Love in Action

✝️ Scripture

"Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."
1 John 3:18 — Read Full Chapter ↗

✝️ Devotional

It is very easy to tell someone "I love you" or to post an inspiring quote about love on social media. Words are cheap and take very little effort. However, Biblical love is described much more as a verb than a noun. It is something you do, often when it isn't convenient or when you don't feel like it.

In the original Greek of the New Testament, this kind of love is often called Agape—a selfless, sacrificial love that seeks the best for others. This means that love might look like staying up late to help a classmate with a coding bug, being patient with a difficult client, or simply listening to a friend when you’d rather be gaming. When we choose to act in love, we are reflecting the character of God, who didn't just tell us He loved us, but showed it through the ultimate sacrifice. Today, look for the small, quiet ways to "code" love into your daily interactions through your actions, not just your speech.

✝️ Reflection Questions

1

Think about your interactions yesterday. Were there moments where your words said "love" but your actions said something else?

2

Who is one person in your life right now who needs to see a tangible act of love rather than just hearing kind words?

3

How does the realization that God loves you through His actions change the way you value yourself today?

✝️ Prayer

Lord, thank You for loving me perfectly through Your actions. Please help me to move beyond just talking about love and start living it out. Give me the eyes to see the needs of the people around me and the courage to act on them, even when it costs me time or energy. Let my life be a true reflection of Your heart. Amen.
