โ๏ธ Devotional
We live in a world that constantly asks us to look at everything at once. We look at our five-year plan, we look at what everyone else is achieving on social media, and we look at the mountain of work still sitting on our desks. Itโs no wonder we feel overwhelmed. When you try to look at the whole mountain, you're more likely to trip over the small stone right in front of you.
The wisdom in Proverbs isn't telling you to be blind to the future, but to be intentional about your immediate path. "Fix your gaze directly before you" is an invitation to stop worrying about the "what ifs" of next month and start focusing on the "what now" of today.
Real progress isn't made in giant leaps; itโs made in a series of boring, disciplined, and focused steps. When you stop scanning the horizon for shortcuts and start giving "careful thought" to where your feet are landing right now, you become steadfast. You stop drifting. You realize that you don't need to see the whole map to stay on the right roadโyou just need enough light for the next step.
โ๏ธ Reflection Questions
The Distraction: What is one "future worry" or "comparison" that is stealing your focus from what you need to do today?
The Path: If you ignored the "big picture" for just one hour, what is the single most important task sitting right in front of you?
The Resolve: How can you "fix your gaze" today? Maybe itโs turning off notifications, or maybe itโs just deciding to finish one thing before starting another
โ๏ธ Prayer
Lord, help me to quiet the noise of the "everywhere else" and the "sometime later." Give me the clarity to see the path You have placed directly beneath my feet today. I don't need to know how the whole story ends right now; I just need the grace to be faithful with this moment. Keep my eyes fixed on You and my feet steady on the path. Amen.
