✝️ Scripture
"He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul."Psalm 23:2–3 — Read Full Chapter ↗
✝️ Devotional
There are seasons in life when the noise never seems to stop. Notifications, deadlines, anxieties — they pile up like stones until the weight becomes unbearable. We rush from one obligation to the next, wondering why we feel so hollow, so dry inside.
The shepherd in Psalm 23 does something counter-intuitive: he makes his sheep lie down. Not suggests it. Not offers it as an option. He *makes* them rest. Sheep, left to themselves, will graze anxiously, moving constantly, never settling. They need a shepherd who understands that rest is not laziness — it is restoration.
God sees you in your rushing. He sees the calendar and the inbox and the worry that wakes you at 2 a.m. And in the midst of all of it, He extends the same invitation He has offered His people throughout all of history: *Come. Lie down. Let me lead you to still waters.*
Still waters are not stagnant waters. They are waters that have found their level — waters that are no longer fighting against themselves. There is a profound difference between the crashing surf and the quiet lake at dawn. Both are water. But only one invites you to drink.
What would it look like today to let God lead you to stillness? It may be five minutes of silence before you open your phone. It may be a slow walk where you resist the urge to listen to anything. It may simply be whispering, *Lord, I am tired, and I need You to lead me today.*
The soul does not thrive on willpower alone. It thrives on surrender — the kind of surrender that trusts the Shepherd to know the way to the water. Your soul was made for refreshment. Do not let another day pass without receiving what He is freely offering.

✝️ Prayer
Lord, You are my Shepherd and I am prone to wander into busyness. Lead me today to the still places — to the quiet moments where I can hear Your voice and be refreshed. I surrender my schedule and my striving into Your hands. Restore my soul. Amen.
