✝️ Scripture
"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God."1 Peter 3:18 — Read Full Chapter ↗
✝️ Devotional
We spend so much of our lives trying to build "bridges" to get where we want to be—bridges of achievement, bridges of reputation, bridges of trying to be "good enough." But there’s a limit to how far those human-made bridges can take us. Eventually, we hit a gap we just can’t cross on our own.
The story of the Cross isn't just about Jesus dying; it’s about Jesus crossing the gap for you. He was the only one who could be the bridge because He was both the "righteous" one and the One who chose to take the weight of the "unrighteous."
When Jesus was on the Cross, He wasn't just checking a box; He was personally handling the debt of your mistakes so that there would be nothing standing between you and God. The benefit of this is radical access. You don't have to wait until you are "fixed" to talk to Him. You don't have to perform to get His attention. Because of what Jesus did, you have an open door to the Creator of the universe.
That changes your daily work and your daily stress. When you feel like you are failing, or when your projects aren't going to plan, you aren't abandoned. You have access to the One who already saw your failures and decided you were worth the price of the bridge.
✝️ Reflection Questions
Where do you feel a "gap" in your life right now—a place where you feel like you aren't doing enough or are falling behind?
If you truly believed you had open access to the Creator right now, would you handle your current stress differently?
How does it change your view of your own value to know that Jesus didn't just die for "everyone," but died specifically to bring you to Him?
✝️ Prayer
Jesus, thank You for being the bridge I could never build myself. Thank You for taking the gap between my mistakes and Your holiness and closing it with Your life. Help me to stop trying to earn my way to You and start living in the freedom of the access You bought for me. When I feel like I'm falling short, remind me that I am already brought close to You. Amen.
