āœļø Scripture

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world"
John 16:33 — Read Full Chapter ↗

āœļø Devotional

We love a good "comeback story." We’re inspired by the team that comes from behind to win in the final seconds or the entrepreneur who pivots after a massive failure to build something better. But the Resurrection is the ultimate comeback—the moment when the most impossible situation in history was reversed.

Jesus didn’t just say "take heart" to be nice. He said it because He had already run the gauntlet. He faced betrayal, public failure, physical agony, and death, and He walked out the other side.

The benefit for us is that we are no longer playing for a "tie" or hoping to just scrape by. Because Jesus has "overcome the world," your current challenges—the stress of school, the uncertainty of your projects, the weight of your responsibilities—don't have the final word. When you feel like your "trouble" is getting the better of you, remember that you are on the winning team.

This gives you a different kind of peace. It’s not the peace of having everything go perfectly; it’s the peace of knowing that your story is held by someone who is undefeated. You can lean into your work today with confidence because the One who holds your future already secured the victory.

āœļø Reflection Questions

1

What "trouble" or stressor is currently making you feel like the odds are stacked against you?

2

How does it change your perspective to realize that Jesus’ victory is already a finished deal, not something you have to help Him win?

3

What is one thing you can "take heart" in today, knowing that God is already in the business of comebacks?

āœļø Prayer

Jesus, thank You for being the Undefeated One. In the middle of my own "troubles," help me to remember that You have already overcome the world. Take away my anxiety about the things I can't control, and replace it with the peace that comes from knowing You are in charge. Give me the strength to show up today with confidence, knowing that You are the God of the comeback. Amen.
