✝️ Scripture
"He says, 'Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."Psalm 46:10 — Read Full Chapter ↗
✝️ Devotional
We live in a culture that treats "busy" like a badge of honor. We feel like if we aren't constantly moving, coding, building, or planning, we’re falling behind. We start to believe that the success of our projects and the stability of our lives depend entirely on our own constant effort. But there is a point where "hustle" turns into "hurry," and hurry eventually leads to burnout.
The command to "be still" isn't an invitation to be lazy; it’s an invitation to trust. It’s a reminder that while our work is important, we aren't the ones holding the world together. When we stop and take a breath, we acknowledge that God is already at work in the areas we can't see. We realize that the "mountain" we've been trying to move all week is much smaller when we view it from a place of peace rather than a place of panic.
Being still allows your mind to reset and your spirit to catch up with your body. Some of the best ideas and clearest solutions don't come when you're staring at the screen for the tenth hour—they come when you step away and give yourself permission to just be. True strength isn't just about how hard you can push; it’s about knowing when to pause so you can keep going for the long haul.
✝️ Reflection Questions
The Noise: What is the loudest "worry" in your head right now that is making it hard for you to be still?
The Control: If you stopped working on your biggest problem for just one hour today, do you truly believe God is capable of handling it while you rest?
The Reset: What is one practical way you can "be still" today? Maybe it’s a 10-minute walk without your phone, or just sitting in silence before you start your next task.
✝️ Prayer
Lord, thank You for the reminder that I don't have to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders. Forgive me for the times I’ve tried to do everything in my own strength. Help me to find true rest in Your presence today. As I grow still, quiet my anxious thoughts and remind me that You are in control. Give me the wisdom to work hard, but the grace to rest well. Amen.
