✝️ Scripture

"The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe"
Proverbs 18:10 — Read Full Chapter ↗

✝️ Devotional

In the ancient world, a "fortified tower" was the highest, strongest point in a city. When an enemy attacked, people didn't stay in their houses or try to fight in the streets—they ran to the tower. It was the one place where the walls were too thick to break and the vantage point was too high to be surprised.

In our lives, "enemies" aren't always people. Sometimes the enemy is a wave of anxiety, a financial setback, or a sudden feeling of being overwhelmed by your responsibilities. Our instinct is usually to try to fix it ourselves—to pace the streets of our own minds trying to find a solution.

The benefit of today’s truth is that you have a place to go before you do anything else. The name of Jesus Christ is that tower. Running to Him isn't about escaping reality; it’s about finding the perspective and protection you need to face reality. When you lean into His name—His character, His promises, and His authority—you are safe. You don't have to be strong enough to win the battle on your own; you just have to be smart enough to run to the One who has already won it.

✝️ Reflection Questions

1

What is the "loudest" worry or pressure facing you as you start this week?

2

When you feel stressed, do you tend to "pace the streets" of your own worries, or is your first instinct to run to Jesus in prayer?

3

What does "safety" look like for you today? Is it a change in circumstances, or a change in who you are trusting to protect you?

✝️ Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for being my fortified tower. When the world feels shaky and the pressure rises, help me to remember that Your name is my safest place. I’m running to You today with my worries and my plans. Give me Your perspective and Your peace as I walk through this Monday. Amen.
